The Adamawa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the OK Movement have renewed calls for greater unity, coordination and organisational discipline among support groups ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that political victory will depend largely on the ability of the various groups to work together under a clearly defined structure.
The call followed a strategic engagement involving the NDC State leadership, the OK Movement, members of the Obidient Movement and other affiliated support groups, including GAM-NDC, where participants reviewed preparations for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

The meeting, held in Adamawa, focused on harmonising structures, strengthening grassroots mobilisation, improving voter education and developing a coordinated approach to electoral operations across the state.
The NDC State Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim E. Bebetu, who received members of the various support groups, described the engagement as timely and strategic, saying the success of the party at the polls would depend on how effectively its supporters could translate their enthusiasm into an organised grassroots political structure.
Bebetu said the party could not afford to operate through disconnected groups working independently, stressing that all support organisations needed to come together under a common framework capable of coordinating activities and maximising their collective strength. He said, “The success of the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections will largely depend on how well we organise, how well we campaign, and how well we connect with the people.”
According to him, Adamawa voters deserve leadership built around capacity, character and competence, but achieving such political change requires more than public enthusiasm. He therefore urged the various support groups to streamline their operations and work under a single canopy to improve coordination, communication and electoral effectiveness.
The chairman disclosed that the party would soon convene a broader meeting involving support groups, critical stakeholders, candidates and other party supporters to develop a comprehensive campaign strategy and establish stronger synergy among the different political structures.
He also stressed the need to activate the party structure from the state level down to wards and polling units, particularly in the areas of voter education, Permanent Voter Card awareness, grassroots mobilisation and voter turnout.
The chairman’s position was echoed by the leadership of the OK Movement, Adamawa State chapter, which reiterated its commitment to building a more coordinated political movement ahead of the elections.
The OK Movement, led by Hon. Joseph E. Maigari and represented at the meeting by his deputy, Hon. Rilwanu Haruna Lawan, participated in the strategic engagement alongside members of the Obidient Movement and other affiliated groups.
The meeting also brought together representatives of the NDC State leadership under Comrade Bebetu A. Ibrahim, with discussions centring on structure harmonisation, data management, grassroots organisation and the recruitment and training of polling unit agents.

Participants also considered strategies for expanding voter education and PVC awareness, strengthening stakeholder consultations and improving communication between the various support groups.
A key outcome of the engagement was the recognition that the growing number of support groups could become a major electoral advantage if properly coordinated, but could equally become a weakness if groups continue to operate in isolation.
The participants therefore emphasised the need for clearly defined roles, shared information, common objectives and effective communication between the state, local government, ward and polling unit structures.
The groups also reviewed plans for a proposed flag-off and inauguration scheduled for September 4, 2026, subject to further consultations and necessary arrangements.
The leadership of the OK Movement further reaffirmed its willingness to engage NDC aspirants and stakeholders at different levels, stressing that the overriding objective should be to build a broad, disciplined and functional political structure capable of reaching voters across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas.
The NDC chairman, meanwhile, called on the party’s national leadership and its presidential candidate to urgently engage stakeholders in Adamawa and appoint a strong and credible individual to coordinate the presidential campaign in the state.
He described campaign leadership as critical to translating the party’s growing support into electoral victory, assuring that the state chapter would provide the necessary support for whoever emerges to lead the presidential campaign.Bebetu also called on Adamawa voters to remain engaged in the political process, urging eligible citizens to obtain their PVCs, stay informed and participate actively in the 2027 elections.
He said the political contest should ultimately be about issues that directly affect the people, including employment opportunities for young people, better economic prospects for women, improved security and responsive governance.

With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the emerging consultations among the NDC, the OK Movement, the Obidient Movement and other support groups point to a growing recognition that political enthusiasm alone may not be enough to secure victory.
For the emerging coalition of interests, the challenge now is to convert the energy of different support groups into a single, disciplined and measurable grassroots operation capable of reaching voters at every level.
The success of that effort, political observers say, will depend on whether the various groups can overcome organisational fragmentation, establish a common command structure and maintain unity around a clearly communicated political objective ahead of the 2027 polls.
