The Proprietress of Alternative Nursery and Primary School, Mrs. Gimbiya Binos Yaroe, has reaffirmed her commitment to expanding access to quality education in rural communities, declaring that education remains the foundation for sustainable development and societal progress.

Mrs. Gimbiya, wife of Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe, made the commitment during the school’s Speech and Prize-Giving Day held in Wuro-Sam, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The colourful event brought together parents, guardians, community leaders and other invited guests to celebrate the academic achievements of the pupils.

Speaking at the occasion, the proprietress said she established the school to contribute meaningfully to the development of education in Mayo-Belwa and its surrounding communities, stressing that every child deserves access to quality and affordable education.

“Providing quality and affordable education is one of my topmost priorities in life. For our society to be secure and progressive, our children must have access to quality education. A society cannot grow beyond the level of education of its people. I am committed to ensuring these children receive the very best,” she said.

Mrs. Gimbiya disclosed plans to expand the institution to the secondary school level to enable pupils continue their education without leaving their community. She also acknowledged the support of her husband, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, in advancing the school’s vision and appealed to well-meaning individuals to partner with the institution in promoting quality education.

She commended the headmaster and teachers for their dedication and professionalism while expressing appreciation to parents and guardians for their confidence in the school.

Delivering the keynote address, the Guest Speaker and Principal of GDSS (Senior Secondary) Nassarawo-Njereng, Mr. Zanya Filibus, emphasised the need for schools to combine academic learning with practical skills acquisition.

He observed that graduates who possess vocational and entrepreneurial skills are better positioned to become self-reliant rather than depending solely on white-collar employment.

Mr. Filibus lauded Mrs. Gimbiya Binos Yaroe for investing in education at the grassroots and urged parents to complement the efforts of teachers by providing the necessary support for their children’s educational development.

Earlier, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Ibrahim Bello Kudaku, said the institution remained committed to delivering quality education through qualified and dedicated teachers.

He praised the proprietress for her unwavering support, describing her commitment to educational excellence as the driving force behind the school’s steady growth. He also thanked parents and guardians for their continued trust in the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the pupils, the Head Girl, Maryamu David, described her experience at Alternative Nursery and Primary School as rewarding, saying the quality of teaching had prepared the pupils to compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the country.

She appealed to the proprietress to establish a secondary section to enable graduating pupils continue their education within the same institution.

In a major highlight of the event, Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe rewarded academic excellence by presenting a brand-new laptop to the overall best graduating pupil and a new smartphone to the best teacher of the academic session.

The senator and his wife also awarded free tuition for the next academic term to ten pupils who excelled in Bible memory verses and Qur’anic recitation, a gesture widely applauded by parents and community members as a demonstration of the family’s commitment to promoting quality education at the grassroots.

The ceremony featured colourful match-pasts by graduating pupils, choreography, debates, Bible and Qur’anic recitations, the unveiling and launching of the school’s official flag, as well as cultural dance performances by Mumuye, Fulani, Nyandan and Igbo cultural groups.

Certificates and prizes were presented to outstanding pupils across different classes, while a caretaker committee of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was also inaugurated during the event.
