Fintiri Congratulates Shettima on APC Vice Presidential Nomination

Duhu Says Retention Strengthens Party’s 2027 Prospects

YOLA, Nigeria – July 11, 2026

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has congratulated Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, following his retention as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri described the decision to retain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as a strong vote of confidence in the leadership, experience, and commitment of the duo that led the APC to victory in the 2023 presidential election.

According to the governor, the decision reflects the confidence reposed in Vice President Shettima by President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC, while affirming his loyalty, competence, and unwavering commitment to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The retention of Vice President Kashim Shettima reflects the trust and confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress. It is also a recognition of his loyalty, competence, and unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration,” Governor Fintiri said.

The governor commended the Vice President as a statesman, bridge-builder, and committed public servant whose contributions to governance, national unity, and policy implementation have continued to earn national recognition.

He expressed confidence that Shettima would continue to deploy his experience as a former two-term Governor of Borno State and Nigeria’s Vice President in advancing national development.

“I have no doubt that His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, will continue to serve our country with integrity, dedication, and distinction in the years ahead,” the governor added.

Reacting to the development, APC stalwart and former North-East National Vice Chairman aspirant, Dr. Umar Dauda Duhu, also congratulated Vice President Shettima, describing his retention as a strategic decision that would consolidate the APC’s electoral strength ahead of the 2027 general election.

Dr. Duhu said the Tinubu-Shettima partnership has provided stability, continuity, and effective leadership over the past three years, adding that retaining the Vice President sends a strong message of unity, consistency, and confidence within the ruling party.

According to him, the decision will further strengthen the APC’s support base, particularly in Northern Nigeria and the North-East, where Shettima enjoys considerable political goodwill and commands widespread respect across party, regional, and religious lines.

He noted that Shettima’s calm disposition, administrative experience, and inclusive leadership style have made him a valuable asset to the Tinubu administration and a key factor in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima has remained loyal, disciplined, and focused on the national assignment entrusted to him. His retention is not only a reward for exemplary service but also a strategic decision that reinforces the APC’s unity and enhances its electoral prospects in 2027. I warmly congratulate His Excellency and pray that Almighty Allah grants him greater wisdom, strength, and good health as he continues to serve Nigeria,” Dr. Duhu said.

Governor Fintiri also prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, sound health, and strength for the Vice President as he continues to discharge the responsibilities of his office in service to the nation.

The reaffirmation of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket is expected to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election, with many political observers viewing the continuity of the ticket as a strategic move aimed at preserving party cohesion and expanding the APC’s electoral appeal nationwide.
