Bwatiye Youth Wing Urges Calm, Unity Amid Rising Tensions

The Bwatiye Youth Wing Worldwide has called on sons and daughters of the Bwatiye nation to remain calm and united while respecting the authority of traditional and community leaders in the face of emerging security and communal challenges.

In a press statement signed by the committee chairman, Comrade Lofty Timothy, the group urged members of the community to exercise restraint and maintain confidence in the leadership of the Bwatiye cultural body, Pene Da Bwatiye, and the revered elders whose guidance, they said, remains critical to the unity and stability of the people.

The youth organisation warned against the dangers of division and blame, stressing that the current situation confronting some Bwatiye communities requires maturity, collective responsibility, and a unified response.

“This is not a time for blame or division. The ongoing situation affecting our communities requires sobriety, maturity and collective responsibility,” the statement read.

According to the group, the Bwatiye nation is facing what it described as existential threats from external assailants whose actions appear designed to create disunity among the people and weaken their collective strength.

To address the challenge, the youth wing called for the establishment of a coordinated and unified communication channel that would help manage information, decisions and community responses in an organised manner.

The statement noted that such a mechanism would ensure accurate communication and help prevent misinformation capable of escalating tensions within and around Bwatiye communities.

The organisation also announced that it would take responsibility for coordinating official press engagements concerning the sensitive situation surrounding the Bwatiye–Pire relations.

Specifically, the youth wing said its committee chairman, who also serves as Vice President II of the Bwatiye Youth Wing of Peshi Ngrah Njiya Bwara, would lead the communication effort in order to promote clarity, accountability and responsible messaging.

The move, the group explained, is intended to promote peace and ensure that information relating to the Bwatiye–Pire brotherly but tense situation is handled with caution and coordination.

Reaffirming its commitment to the unity, security and dignity of the Bwatiye people, the youth wing urged community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to remain peaceful and vigilant while supporting the traditional and community leadership structures managing the situation.

“Together, we shall overcome these challenges through unity, wisdom and mutual respect,” the statement concluded.
