The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is steadily strengthening its foothold in Adamawa State’s Southern Senatorial District, as intensified grassroots mobilisation continues to attract an expanding wave of defectors from across the political divide.

Across key local government areas including Toungo, Ganye, and Jada, the ongoing inauguration of ADC Transition Committees has emerged as a major catalyst for political realignment, with prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other parties formally defecting to the ADC.

A statement issued by the committee’s spokesperson, Martins Dickson, confirmed that several local government chairmen, ward leaders, and executive members had collectively renounced their former political affiliations in favour of the ADC, citing the party’s expanding structure, inclusive leadership, and people-oriented vision.

Welcoming the new members, Chairman of the Adamawa State ADC Transition Committee, Ibrahim Sadiq Dasin, assured the decampees of equal opportunities and full integration within the party, emphasizing that fairness, inclusiveness, and collective progress remain the cornerstone of the ADC’s ideology.

Dasin urged party faithful to intensify grassroots engagement across wards and polling units, stressing that sustained mobilisation is key to consolidating the party’s growing acceptance in the Southern zone.

He described the forthcoming membership registration exercise as a critical benchmark for measuring the ADC’s rising influence and organisational strength in the district

.“The ADC is building a solid foundation from the grassroots upward,” Dasin said, reaffirming the party’s determination to offer a credible alternative and dislodge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

He subsequently inaugurated the local government transition committees for the zone, charging members to deepen party presence at the community level and ensure effective coordination ahead of future political activities.

Earlier, Hon. Yahaya Hamanjulde called on stakeholders and supporters to rally behind the ADC’s vision of a people-centred government, criticizing the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over policies he said have worsened living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.Hamanjulde argued that rising food prices, high costs of agricultural inputs, and increased food importation have weakened national food security and deepened poverty, underscoring the need for a new political direction.

Also speaking, Barrister Shagnah Pwamaddi advised members of the newly inaugurated transition committees to strictly adhere to operational guidelines, while prioritising broader inclusion through aggressive ward and unit-level mobilisation.

Representatives of youth, women, and elders in the Southern zone commended Rt. Hon. Dasin and his team for what they described as disciplined, stabilising, and focused leadership, noting that the committee’s approach has boosted confidence and unity within the party. With expanding grassroots structures and sustained defections, the ADC appears increasingly positioned as a formidable political force in Adamawa South ahead of the 2027 elections.
