The Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin, has appealed for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the Tsobo and Bachama communities in Lamurde Local Government Area.
In a heartfelt message issued on Tuesday, Dasin described the decades-long relationship between the two communities as a model of peaceful coexistence, strengthened through inter-marriages, shared traditions, and mutual respect. He lamented that the recent outbreak of violence had undermined this history of harmony.
According to him, the clashes—which have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of families are a tragic departure from the unity the people have always known. “It is heartbreaking to witness the recent violence that has shaken the land, violence that has claimed innocent lives, shattered families, and destroyed properties built through years of sacrifice,” he said. “When one community suffers, we all suffer.”
Dasin urged residents of both communities to silence all forms of hostility and allow peace to return, stressing that no conflict was worth the tears and trauma inflicted on women, children, and families.
He called on leaders, elders, youth, and other stakeholders from both sides to embrace dialogue, pursue reconciliation, and rebuild trust.“Rebuild trust, heal wounds, and restore the harmony that once defined you,” he appealed.
The ADC chairman also called on security agencies to intensify their presence in the affected areas and discharge their duties with fairness, professionalism, and commitment to protecting every life, regardless of ethnicity or affiliation. He noted that peace cannot thrive where fear persists and urged security operatives to work to restore public confidence.Dasin concluded by praying for peace to return to Lamurde and for healing for all affected families.
