Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), has appointed Dr. Sani Adamu as his Strategy Adviser on Support Groups, with effect from January 1, 2026.

The appointment, formally conveyed through a letter personally signed by Atiku, assigns Dr. Adamu the critical task of coordinating, strengthening, and mobilizing support groups across Nigeria in line with Atiku’s political vision and national development agenda.

According to the letter, the position, though pro bono comes with significant strategic responsibilities. These include designing and implementing grassroots mobilization frameworks, consolidating support networks, and promoting civic engagement among Nigerians.

“The Strategy Adviser on Support Groups will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing strategies that mobilize and empower support groups across Nigeria,” Atiku stated.

“You will work closely with my team to optimize outreach, consolidate support, and engage citizens in the political process.”Atiku emphasized that the position demands a deep understanding of Nigeria’s diverse communities and grassroots realities.

Dr. Adamu, he noted, will also be responsible for establishing regional and local structures, training group leaders, and ensuring consistent messaging aligned with his political platform.The letter also stipulates a six-month probationary period to evaluate performance and determine continuity. It empowers the new adviser to represent Atiku in select community and media engagements subject to approval while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.
