10 killed, 717 Households Displaced, 7 Billion Lost in Babarric Attack
Yola, Adamawa
The Rigange and Waduku communities in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have raised alarm over renewed violence which they say has left ten people feared dead, scores injured, and more than 717 households displaced.
In a joint press conference on Thursday, leaders of the two Bwatiye communities accused armed men believed to be from the Tsobo (Pirei) tribe of carrying out coordinated assaults on July 7 and 11, 2025, using what they described as “sophisticated rifles and machinery.
”The attacks, according to the leaders, resulted in properties worth an estimated ₦7 billion being looted or destroyed.Community representatives, led by Gregory Abednego, D.K. Rigange , Yakwamo Gaddiel, and Danladi Kotohula, also accused the Tsobo community of staging violent reprisals in Tigno on August 6 after protesting at a police station over missing youths.

They alleged that Bwatiye houses were set ablaze within 48 hours of the ultimatum despite a curfew. The statement further called on security agencies to investigate claims that suspected Tsobo youths had been seen impersonating police officers while armed with prohibited weapons, including AK-47s, G3 rifles, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
“We are deeply disturbed by the lack of thorough investigation into these atrocities. Silence must not be mistaken for weakness,” the leaders said. While urging their people to remain calm and avoid reprisals, the communities appealed to the Federal Government and the Adamawa State Government to act urgently to ensure justice and forestall further escalation.
