Dr. Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff to Adamawa Governor Fintiri, debunks claims of religious and gender bias, defending the Governor’s inclusive leadership amid online criticisms.
Dr. Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has fired back at critics accusing the Governor of bias against Christians and women in government appointments.
In a strongly worded statement titled “Fintiri and Religious Yahoos,” Dr. Amos described the allegations circulating online as politically motivated propaganda, particularly following the death of Fufore Local Government Chairman, Hon. Shaibu Babas.
No Leadership Vacuum in Fufore LGA – Dr. Amos
Addressing concerns over the delayed swearing-in of Vice Chairperson Mrs. Peace Samson Audu, a Christian woman, Dr. Amos stated that the law already empowers her to function as Acting Chairman without delay.
“Mrs. Peace Audu is already acting as Chairman of Fufore LGA, fully vested with all powers of the office. There is no leadership vacuum, and certainly no discrimination,” Amos said.
Fintiri’s Administration Promotes Unity and Merit
Highlighting Governor Fintiri’s inclusive governance style, Dr. Amos emphasized his own role as a Christian and Chief of Staff, and the appointment of a Christian female Deputy Governor, as evidence of the Governor’s commitment to diversity.
“Fintiri has always appointed based on merit, competence, and balance, not religion, ethnicity, or gender. Whether Christian-Christian or Muslim-Muslim tickets, the focus is on what works best for the people,” he added.
Online Critics Have Political Motives
Dr. Amos criticized the opposition’s use of social media to push misleading narratives, pointing out that the same actors once accused the Governor of being “too pro-Christian.”
“The contradictions in their arguments reveal their true agenda — division and political provocation.”
He further reminded the public that Fufore LGA has had both Christian and female Chairpersons in the past, and Mrs. Audu’s current role is consistent with that history.
Adamawa State Must Reject Division
Calling for unity, Dr. Amos urged citizens not to be swayed by what he called “morally bankrupt elements seeking to sow discord.”
“Governor Fintiri is a leader above religious, tribal, or gender discrimination. His focus remains on building a united Adamawa,” he concluded.
