Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for its swift and decisive operation that led to the rescue of two kidnapped Catholic priests in Numan.
The Governor lauded the DSS for successfully securing the release of Rev. Fathers Matthew David Dusami and Abraham Samman without paying any ransom. He expressed gratitude to the DSS Director General and the Adamawa State Command for their professionalism and efficiency.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, Governor Fintiri warned criminals that there would be no hiding place for them in the state.
“We will not spare anybody found wanting, no matter who you are,” he declared.
He commended the prompt action of DSS operatives, which not only ensured the safe return of the abducted priests but also led to the arrest of the suspect, Tahamado Jonathan Damien, a member of the Church.
Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for intelligence-sharing and collaboration among security agencies. He reiterated that coordinated efforts by the DSS, Police, Armed Forces, and other law enforcement bodies would foster peace and security, creating a more conducive environment for residents and investors alike.
The two priests were kidnapped in February 2025 from their residence at a convent in Gweda Mallam, Numan Local Government Area.
