2027: Atiku-Led New Political Merger Aims to Chase Tinubu Out of Office

A fresh political movement is gaining momentum with the goal of removing President Bola Tinubu from power in the 2027 elections. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is at the forefront of this initiative, rallying support for a broad coalition aimed at unseating Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku, who was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, made his intentions clear at a gathering in Yola, Adamawa State. Addressing his supporters, he emphasized the urgent need for a united front to challenge the APC’s grip on power and restore Nigeria’s democratic and economic trajectory.

“The future of our nation depends on our ability to come together and take decisive action,” Atiku declared. “This movement is about more than just one political party—it is about rescuing Nigeria from failed leadership and steering it toward a better future.”

The former vice president criticized the Tinubu administration for exacerbating Nigeria’s economic hardship, deepening insecurity, and failing to provide effective governance. He accused the APC of prioritizing political elites over the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. “The people deserve accountable leadership, not a government that serves a privileged few while the rest struggle to survive,” Atiku stated.

Atiku’s renewed push for political realignment has sparked speculation about a possible grand opposition merger ahead of 2027. His call for unity echoes previous attempts to consolidate opposition forces against the ruling party, signaling a strategic effort to mobilize a formidable challenge to Tinubu’s reelection bid.

The event was organized by Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo, who pledged unwavering loyalty to Atiku’s political cause. He described the movement as a collective effort to reclaim power from what he called a corrupt and ineffective administration. “We stand with Atiku because he has consistently fought for the Nigerian people,” Abbo asserted. “This is not just about one man; it is about ensuring Nigeria gets the leadership it truly deserves.”

As the gathering concluded, a sense of renewed political urgency swept through Atiku’s supporters. With 2027 on the horizon, the movement appears poised to intensify efforts to forge alliances, build grassroots support, and mount a serious challenge to President Tinubu’s hold on power.
