The Correspondent Chapel, Adamawa state chapter has elected Mr. Padio Phineas as the elected chairman of the chapel. Mr Padio was elected by his colleagues to serve for a second term as the leader of the chapel.
Speaking shortly after the election, Padio said,
“Gentlemen,
“As you may be aware, the tenure of the Padio Phineas-led EXCO concludes today. We have gathered here at the press gallery of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yola, Adamawa State, to witness the inauguration of the new executive members of the chapel.
The following individuals have emerged as the new EXCO members by consensus:
- Padio Phineas (Nigerian Pilot) – Chairman – Vice Chairman
- Percy Dabang (Viewer TV) – Secretary
- Hanny Hanniel Zarokada (Business Day) – Treasurer
- Yagana Ali (Daily Asset) – Financial Secretary
- Shafiu Saleh (Leadership Hausa) – Auditor
“This decision comes after the disruption of the election process by the state council, led by Comrade Ishaka Dedan. As you may have observed, Comrade Dedan has overstepped his authority by selectively determining eligibility for voting and candidacy based on personal relationships, rather than the established guidelines of our union, the NUJ.
“Comrade Dedan’s actions have been fueled by personal grievances, particularly following the 2023 Governorship election. During that period, he attempted to use the media unethically in support of the APC candidate. This led to his harsh and unwarranted animosity towards those of us who stood firm in defense of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s mandate, as entrusted by the people of Adamawa.
“As you may recall, he openly stated that those of us who opposed his views, and the unethical practices he promoted, would face consequences. In line with this, many of our members who disagreed with him have been unjustly denied clearance, not on legal grounds but due to his personal vendetta. We have formally raised these issues with the National Secretariat.
“In light of his tyrannical behavior and disregard for union principles, we no longer recognize Comrade Dedan’s leadership and will do so only until his term concludes in the coming two months. We reaffirm our commitment and loyalty to the National Secretariat and vow to uphold the integrity of our profession.
“Thank you for your attention. God bless the NUJ.”
The elections came shortly after the congress of the Chapel through the ballot elected Tom Garba as the chairman of the Credential Committee of the Chapel.
The Correspondent Chapel elections is an offshoot of the scenerio of the 2023 General elections between Gov Fintiri of PDP and the APC çandidate, Sen Aishatu Dahiru Binani as the Padio-led side of the Correspondent chapel were credited with leaking the “A taimaki matan Nan” audio which led to the imminent collapse of the Huduism elections scam.
All interest parties in the 2027 elections in Adamawa must pay close attention to the Correspondent chapel elections where all rules were thrown to the wind in a vindictive mission of tormenting the journalist who first leaked the compromised umpire audio and all the group of Journalist who refused to announce a manufactured APC çandidate as winner when the collation of the results was still at the 13 LGA. It is instructive to know that this development at the Correspondent chapel is just a small step in the grand scheme for the next Hudu to thrive .
