Obidients Condemns Pres. Tinubu’s Inaction on Inflation, Hunger, Poverty…

The National Chairman of the Obidients Harmonisation Committee (OHC), Comrade Joseph Enan Maigari has slammed Pres.Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to address serious economic issues plaguing Nigerian youths in his over one year in office.

Maigari decried that Nigerian youths have continued to suffer from hunger, unemployment, poverty, and chronic inflation that has driven the country to the brinks in his over one year in office.

Maigari made the remarks in a press statement issued by Obidients Harmonisation Committee Secretariat and made available News Rendezvous over the weekend.

Maigari in his statement said, “The OBIDIENT HARMONIZATION COMMITTEE is alarmed by the escalating crises of youth unemployment, poverty, food inflation, and fuel price increase, which have pushed millions of Nigerians to the brink of despair.

“We condemn the government’s inaction and lack of effective policies to address these pressing issues. The current administration’s failure to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and ensure food security has led to:

  • Soaring youth unemployment rates
  • Deepening poverty and inequality
  • Skyrocketing food prices
  • Crushing fuel price increases”

“We demand that the government takes immediate action to:

  1. Create jobs and stimulate economic growth through investments in education, infrastructure, and small businesses.

“On job creation we urge the FG to review NPOWER PROGRAM of the previous administration and re-introduce it for both short-term, medium term and long term solution for youth unemployment in the country and not as a political tool for election or for political office holders. If there is anything that the Buhari administration has a fair mark it’s the non-politicization of the program such that the son of a trader can earn a living via the dignity of labor no matter how small.

“2.Implement poverty reduction programs to support vulnerable populations.

“3. Address food inflation by increasing agricultural production, reducing import dependencies, and ensuring food distribution.”4. Reverse fuel price increases and explore alternative energy sources.

“4. Reverse fuel price increases and explore alternative energy sources,”

The statement adds that, “Nigerians deserve better. We will continue to hold the government accountable and push for policies that benefit the people, not just the privileged few.

“So also Governor’s of the 36states should not just fold their hands and collect almost 50% increase in FAAC since the removal of fuel subsidy without tackling the economic challenges in their states most especially Youth unemployment and food inflation.”
