Gov. Fintiri Task Adamawa Youths to Take Advantage of ICT to Shape the Future

The Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has tasked youths in Adamawa state to embrace technology and to harness opportunities and benefits that the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) presents to improve themselves, their communities, the state and the nation at large.

Fintiri challenged youths in the state that the future belongs to them but they have to take advantage of the summit to acquire knowledge, skills and expertise in the area of technology which has the power to liberate them and ensure a brighter future for themselves and the state at large.

Gov. Fintiri made the remarks during the first edition of Adamawa Youth Summit held in Yola, Adamawa state.

Addressing the teeming young supporters at the summit in Yola tagged, “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders” he said Adamawa’s future can only get brighter if the youths appropriate the full benefits of the summit and improve their skills in ICT.

While appreciating efforts of the convener and facilitators of the programme, Fintiri said the capacity building summit is a commendable move and aligns perfectly with his administration’s vision of ensuring a more prosperous and technologically advanced state.

Governor Fintiri said, the summit is a significant milestone in the journey of his administration and urged the youths to be open-minded to learning and innovations which is key to having a brighter future.

“Let us embrace the opportunity that ICT presents and strive to harness it’s potential for the betterment of our community and the advancement of our state.

“I urged you all to make the most of this training to network, elaborate and collaborate and inspire one another.

“Together we can build a stronger, more resilient Adamawa State where our Youths are empowered, our communities thrive and our future shine brighter,” Governor Fintiri said.

Speaking at the occasion, the convener of the summit and Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Safrat Dungus said, tone of the focal points of the summit is the youths who are”Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

Dungus pointed out, that the theme of the summit, “Youth Civic Engagement: Shaping the future of Governance,” is an agenda that Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri pursues vehemently, with the aim of touching the lives of youth and boosting their capacity to engage globally.

Safratu Dungus said, “It is with immense pleasure and great honour that I welcome you all to the First Edition of Adamawa Youth Summit 2024. Today, as we gather with a shared vision and a collective commitment to empower the youth of Adamawa State and to shape a brighter future for our communities and our nation.

“This year’s summit is built around the theme, “Youth Civic Engagement: Shaping the Future of Governance.”

“This theme speaks to the heart of our mission: to inspire, equip, and mobilize young people to take an active role in the governance and development of our society.

“It is a call to action for every young individual to recognize their potential and to harness it for the greater good of all!

“As we embark on this two-day journey of dialogue, learning, and collaboration, let us remember the mantra of our current administration under the esteemed leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri: “Leaving nothing untouched and leaving no one behind.”

“This guiding principle underscores our commitment to inclusiveness and ensuring that every youth, regardless of their background, Religion, social status or party affliation has the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from the progress of our state.”

One of the key considerations at the summit is the issue of empowering tomorrow’s leaders, youth engagement for sustainable development, youth empowerment in a digital age among other focal areas.

The summit featured technical sessions on creating content and other presentations from experts from various fields of specialization in ICT and the NDLEA.
