Breaking: Police Arrest former Adamawa LP Chairman for Impersonation, As Ward EXCOS Suspend Him from Party

Reports filtering in suggest that the ousted Labour Party Chairman in Adamawa, Nicholas Christopher, has been arrested by the men of the Nigerian police over impersonation as the state chairman of Labour party in the state following his removal from office by about 18 local government chairmen of the Party.

This medium reliably gathered that he has been released on bail but has been asked to report himself to the station over the weekend.

Rendezvous also gathered that, the Shuwa ward of the the Labour party seating in Madagali , has sacked the Christopher Nicholas from the party and banned him from participating in any party activities of the labour party or parading himself as a member of the state executive of the party.

The Shuwa ward executives booted Nicholas out of the party after series of deliberations by the Shuwa ward party executives and stakeholders in Madagali Local Government area of Adamawa State. The Madagali leaders of the party pointed out that Christopher is a serial truant in the party and that he has failed to pay his dues and has shown total disregard for the party’s constitution.

The party officials say, “Charity must begin at home, Nicholas must show respect for Labour Party in Shuwa before he can claim he wants to lead anywhere else. They call on the general public and all Nigerians at home and in diaspora to avoid dealing with him in whatever capacity he might now present himself.”

The letter of his dismissal reads, “The Chairman, executives and stakeholders of Labour Party(LP) Shuwa ward of Madagali local government area of Adamawa State at a meeting held on 15th May, 2024 at the party ward office resolve to suspend Mr. Nicholas Christopher from the party.

“His suspension is on the grounds of Non payment of monthly dues, absence in party ward meetings, anti-party activities and gross misconduct.”

The letter further explained that, “His suspension is on the following grounds
1.Non payment of monthly dues,

2. Absence in party ward meetings,
3. Anti-party activities
4. Gross misconduct.

“These offenses are found to be in violation of the party’s constitution and as such we hereby declare Mr. Nicholas Christopher suspended with immediate effect as enshrined in the party’s constitution.”

Christopher’s suspension came a month after the Labour Party State excos unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on him.

Recall that on April 4,2024, Labour Party ALGON chairman Rev Illiya Mathias alongside 18 out of 21 Local government chairmen of the party sacked Mr. Nicholas Christopher from being the State chairman after passing a vote of no confidence on him.

The grounds on which the resolution was reached are as follows

  1. Anti-party activities
    2.Financial Mismanagement
    3.Printing and sales of unauthorized membership forms
  2. Poor communication/interpersonal skills
  3. Unconstitutional decisions
  4. Inability to coordinate the party during 2023 elections.

While the party waited for appropriate action of the National working committee (NWC) on the matter, the chairmen recognized a 7 man new care-taker committee headed by Hon. Theman Jonah.

” While we await the appropriate action of the National working committee (NWC) , we the Local Government Chairmen of Labour Party Adamawa State, here recognize the following as our new care-taker committee”

  1. Hon.Theman Jonah- Chairman
  2. Apwanokona Azmaveth -secretary
  3. Aliyu Mohammed Abubakar -Treasurer
  4. Henry Ibrahim Kwataden -PRO
  5. Gajiya Zainab Isiah Ahmed -woman Leader
  6. Kamalluddeb Jibrillah Aliyu -Youth Leader
  7. Auwal Yahya Chiroma -Member .

This, they say will be in the interest of the party members and the Constitution of Labour Party.

However, Nicholas on April 13, 2024 said he still remained the state chairman of Labour Party adding that, only 5 out of the 18 LGA chairmen who passed a vote of no confidence on him were valid.

“I want to categorically state here that only 5 of those Local Government Chairmen are real and authentic members of the Labour Party, the rest are not even card carrying members of the party, therefore I still remain the Labour Party Chairman in Adamawa State”

This suspension of Nicholas by his ward chairman prohibits him from participating in any Labour Party activities nationwide.

“By this suspension he is therefore prohibited from participating in any Labour Party activities nationwide” his ward chairman added.
