

The Adamawa state government says it has expended about N4.4B on various empowerment within the state in 2023 and that it aims at reducing poverty considerably by 2927 based on the programmes it outlines, the state coordinator of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) disclosed.
The state coordinator of PAWECA, Aisha Bello, said the Adamawa state government has so far spent Four Billion, four hundred million Naira in implementing various programmes Aimee at scaling down the statistics number of critically poor persons in the state the state by empowering the Youths and the vulnerable groups in the state.
The coordinator of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Aisha Bello made this known at a press conference in Yola, Adamawa state.
While presenting the scorecard of the agency Aisha said the agency has a smooth Journey from 2019 to 2023 and credited the success to the Committment and dedication of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The Governor has done much in the area of empowerment to the extent of signing an executive bill that mandated the creation of poverty Alleviation agency in order to clampdown on poverty and begin a process of value reorientation in the state.
Aisha said the over N4.Billion spent on Youths and other vulnerable groups was a direct benefit of the revival of the moribund skill acquisition centers across the state which have become instruments for wealth creation in the state.
She said programmes of the agency would not have been successful but for the Prudence of governor Fintiri. The PAWECA boss disclosed that about ten previously moribund skill acquisition centers are currently functional except for one in Madagali the restoration is still in progress because of Boko Haram’s activities in the area.
Aisha said, “Seven hundred and eight million naira is spent on a monthly basis on skills acquisition programmes across the state to ensure the Youths of Adamawa are getting the direct benefits of the fresh air government.
“About twenty-three thousand youths and other vulnerable groups benefit from the programm with individuals getting between ten, to Fifty thousand naira monthly empowerment support their businesses.”
She called on corporate and well-meaning Nigerians to support the government’s efforts to fight poverty scourge bedeviling the State.
She said, the efforts of Governor Fintiri, in dealing with poverty is aimed at reducing poverty to the minimum by 2027.
