WE REJECT THE LOPSIDED CITING OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN ADAMAWA AND POOR REPRESENTATIVE IN NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

We believe that the selection of Mubi, Adamawa State , alongside one other, was meant to ensure that states that hitherto had no federal tertiary educational institutions were accommodated in line with federal character principle.

We are, however, disconcerted to note that President Tinubu approved that federal university of Agriculture be sited in Mubi.

A situation whereby Federal institutions in ADAMAWA state are sited only in both northern and central Senatorial district defeated the Federal character principle of making Nigeria a nation institutionally and by association. It defeats the principle of fairness, equity and Justice.

This is in contradiction to the principle of fairness, equity and justice, considering the indisputable fact that Mubi Senatorial District with five Local Government areas (LGAs) is now having two Universities, a Federal Polytechnic, a State school of Health Technology, while Southern Senatorial Districts and the whole of Numan federation with nine LGAs and harbours twice the population of Mubi District has no university, no polytechnic or even college of Education, nor a health institution aside of polytechnic campus in Numan and college of agriculture in Ganye.

Also the Adamawa Central Senatorial District has Federal University, a Federal and State colleges of Education and Nursing school.

The discrimination against the Southern Senatorial District is glaring more so that the Senator representing the area, Rev Binos Yaroe sponsored a bill establishing Federal University of Education in Numan and was approved and became a law before the law establishing Federal university of Agriculture Mubi..

We also call on Senator Binos Yaroe to be more visible and articulate in promoting Federal presence across Nigeria like his former colleague Senator Ishaku Abbo has so far done.

If the parliament can go on oversight, they should also be able to raise alarm about things they see going wrong.

The Federal roads in Adamawa South example Numan Jalingo road is nothing to write about and we have a second term senator whose voice is too silent for the economic progress of the state and the nation.

Hard stance on federal principle needs to be taken by the Senator regarding his immediate constituency, if our infrastructure must improve in Adamawa South .

The essence of democracy is primarily to present and safeguard the interest of the populace.

A representative should uphold the interest of the people he represents above his personal ones. If he cannot afford to do that, he is not worth to be given the mandate or take up such mandate at all.

The demand and aspiration, pain and agony, needs and wants of the people of Adamawa South is pitiable because of the senator’s gross failure to table it where it matters most – the senate chamber.

The second term senator’s leadership capacity has not be felt has there are no iconic federal presence or project from him in his constituency all this while. No single consistency project to boast of or be proud of.

We call on both Federal Government and SENATOR Yaroe to look into the lopsidedness in siting federal institution in the state.
