WHY LP SUPPORTED GOV. FINTIRI IN LAST GUBER ELECTION IN ADAMAWA STATE

The Adamawa state organising secretary of labour Party (LP), Comrade Ezra Vandi Kwaya, has slammed the leadership of Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the PDP, over failure to take into cognisance the enormous role it played in championing his re-elections bid in the last governorship elections.

The LP chieftain said, Gov. Fintiri was in the full picture of their Committment in the Labour Party to work for his emergence as governor over other candidates yet after returning to power has has quickly abandoned them.
Vandi Kwaya made the remarks in a press statement made available to Rendezvous, in Yola.
Kwaya said, the Party and its members lined up behind the PDP candidate in the state because it believed that Gov.Fintiri has shown positive signs that he was determined to work for the good and collective well being of the people of the state.

The statement read in part, “Let me first appreciate God Almighty for making our hearts desires come true as God’s plan in the last governorship election in Adamawa state was manifested.

“Let it also be known that, it was our collective resolved in Labour party in Adamawa state to endorse and support the administration of Fintiri as a political party in the last gubernatorial election and even into the battle front during the rerun.

“We believe that writing the wrongs done to us as a people by the then APC’s anti-people economic policy at the centre, was a job that must be done and that we needed a man like (he) Governor Finitiri who has shown that he can be trusted and will work for the collective interest of the people. Therefore, we agreed in LP in Adamawa state to form a virile coalition with a party that can guarantee his re-election.

“But sadly, we are not carried along despite the fact that the governor was aware of our resolve to support his re- election.”

Comrade Kwaya contends that, “LP is not a docile party as was erroneously claimed by someone within his ranks . We would have given our support to APC or any other party as was done by our so-called candidate, but it was an open secret to the general public and His Excellency Ahmadu Fintri of the PDP, that as a Party, we declared our support for him and to that effect motivated and mobilized our members to vote for PDP at the governorship level.

“Our decision was based on the interest of our people, and top on the burner is the issue of the alleviation of the sufferings of the masses and the development of our dear state.

“We believe that the governor is not someone who would make a promise he would not keep but from what we are witnessing now, he has snubbed us and failed us.
“We supported him and his political ambition with the best of intentions, to do what was best for the state.

“One thing was clear, we have accepted our mistake and we are determined to correct it in subsequent elections.

“Who would have imagined that a governor who won election with the support of some opposition political parties in the state would quickly brush aside the contributions of Labour Party and other opposition parties in the running of the State.”

He laments that, this is the time when resources of the state should be harnessed to support the weak and strengthen the recovery of our communities.
