NigeriaDecides2023: US Threatens to Sanction Perpetrators of Violence in March 18 Guber Elections 

The US Mission in Nigeria has issued a stern warning to persons who perpetrate or sponsor violence in the March 18 Guber Elections in Nigeria.

U.S. Mission Nigeria made this known via it’s official Twitter handle,  on Tuesday, 21st March 2023.

U.S. said, “The United States is deeply troubled by the disturbing acts of violent voter intimidation and suppression that took place during the March 18 polls in Lagos, Kano, and other states. 

“We call on Nigerian authorities to hold accountable and bring to justice any individuals found to have ordered or carried out efforts to intimidate voters and suppress voting during the election process.

“The United States likewise will consider all available actions, including additional visa restrictions, on individuals believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic process in Nigeria.”
