The PDP PCC in Adamawa calls on INEC and all institutions responsible for election management, oversight and enforcement, to respect the processes and procedures for the conduct of elections, counting of votes and collation of results as enshrined in the 2022 electoral law. 2. The call is coming on the heels of the undue delay and seeming interference in the processing and release of the winner of the governorship election in Adamawa. 3. INEC had already completed the collation of results in 20 out of the 21 Council areas of the state, remaining only Fufore which remains outstanding not because the result is not available but for reasons that cannot be understood. 4. An immediate conclusion of the election process would have forestalled the misinformation which is hanging in the public domain about the outcome of the governorship election. 5. It is curious that while collation has not been finally concluded, some individuals and organizations are already congratulating an undeclared winner. 6. One of such organizations, the British High Commission in Nigeria, which had initially congratulated the APC candidate, had since withdrawn its unconfirmed message and even deleted its tweet. 7. The PCC is concerned that an unauthorized official outside the statutorily empowered organs could bring a purported result from an LGA, outside the officially documented outcome and get it accepted. 8. The PCC therefore advises the general public to respect due process and visit the INEC results portal to generate whatever information they need about the outcome. 9. The results of an election, which has been conducted peacefully has no reason to be delayed for whatever reason.
