Adamawa Speaker wins Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Iya Abbas of people’s Democratic Party, PDP as the winner of Adamawa Central Senatorial election.
Abbas is the serving speaker, Adamawa House of Assembly.
Dr Ahmed Alkali, the Returning Officer for the Senatorial district made the announcement after the collation of the results on Monday in Yola.
According to him, following the election held on Fed. 25 and 26, 2022, Abbas scored a total 145,880 votes, against Abdulaziz Nyako of APC, who scored 118,555 votes.
Alkali added that Hamman Ahmadu of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) scored 21,352 while Adamu Ismaila of Labour Party (LP) got 12, 237 votes.
Similarly, Sen. Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing Adamawa South senatorial zone has also been reelected for the second term tenure with 146,407 votes defeating his closest challenger Adamu Ismaila Numan of APC who scored 94,828 votes.
While Sen. Ishaku Elisha Abbo, representing Adamawa North senatorial zone was reelected with 71, 927 votes defeating his closest opponent Yohanna Amos of PDP who scored 61,895 votes.
Abbas appreciated the support of people in the zone for electing him and promised good representation as senator for all.
He called on the other contestants to accept the outcome of the election and joint hands for the development of the senatorial zone.
